Biography – Bob Iden Bob
Iden has worked on many of
the operating areas of ARCO
in Alaska. He joined ARCO
Alaska in 1970. Prior to
joining ARCO, Bob worked for
Shell Oil Company both in
California and Alaska.
From 1966 to 1974, he was
responsible for reservoir
development and evaluation
in the Cook Inlet area-first
for Shell and then for ARCO.
He became involved in ARCO’s
engineering exploration
efforts in Alaska Outer
Continental Shelf waters in
1974. In 1977, Bob was given
the responsibility for all
reservoir engineering
aspects of the development
and management of the
Prudhoe Bay Unit. He was
elected the Society of
Professional Engineers
Engineer of the Year in
1980.
In 1981, Bob was given the
responsibility of
engineering new development
opportunities, working again
in the Cook Inlet area, and
conducting early studies
associated with ARCO’s North
Slope interests in Lisburne,
West Sak, Ugnu, Endicott,
and Milne Point. In 1982, he
was named in Prudhoe Bay
Engineering Manager in
charge of ARCO’s development
activities for the Prudhoe
Bay reservoir.
In 1991, Bob was promoted to
Vice President, External
Affairs. He accepted the
position of Vice President,
New Ventures/Environmental
Health and Safety in January
1993.
Bob was born in
Staffordshire, England in
1940. He holds a bachelor’s
degree in oil technology
from the University of
London, England and a
master’s degree in petroleum
and natural gas engineering
from Pennsylvania State
University.
Bob is a 34 year resident of
Alaska. He met his wife,
Alicia Selkregg, here in
1967. They have two
daughters, Tanya and Tara.
Bob retired from ARCO Alaska
early in 1995, He and his
wife manage their various
assets and travel quite
extensively throughout the
world.
