Theodore L. Kassier
Theodore L. Kassier, Ph.D.
is currently Senior
Associate Vice President for
Academic Affairs for the
University of Alaska System.
Prior to his appointment to
that post, Dr. Kassier
served as Provost for the
University of Alaska
Anchorage (UAA), and for
seven years before that was
Dean of UAA’s College of
Arts and Sciences. His
experience combines an
academic background in
foreign languages (including
several resident
directorships of study
abroad programs) with broad
administrative roles
encompassing the virtual
entirety of the academic
enterprise, including
responsibility for
educational technology at
unit and campus-wide levels,
and programmatic and faculty
issues at the system-wide
level. Prior to his
appointment as Head of UAA’s
Department of Languages in
1993, Dr. Kassier held
positions at the University
of Texas at San Antonio, and
Vassar College
(Poughkeepsie, NY). He holds
the M.A. and Ph.D. from
Princeton University, and
the B.A. from Columbia
College, Columbia
University. In addition to
his membership on the World
Affairs Council Board, Dr.
Kassier is member of the
Municipality of Anchorage
Library Advisory Board, and
has been a member of the
Alaska Humanities Forum and
World Trade Center Alaska
