  Theodore L. Kassier

Theodore L. Kassier, Ph.D. is currently Senior Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs for the University of Alaska System. Prior to his appointment to that post, Dr. Kassier served as Provost for the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), and for seven years before that was Dean of UAA’s College of Arts and Sciences. His experience combines an academic background in foreign languages (including several resident directorships of study abroad programs) with broad administrative roles encompassing the virtual entirety of the academic enterprise, including responsibility for educational technology at unit and campus-wide levels, and programmatic and faculty issues at the system-wide level. Prior to his appointment as Head of UAA’s Department of Languages in 1993, Dr. Kassier held positions at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, NY). He holds the M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University, and the B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University. In addition to his membership on the World Affairs Council Board, Dr. Kassier is member of the Municipality of Anchorage Library Advisory Board, and has been a member of the Alaska Humanities Forum and World Trade Center Alaska Boards.
