Charles (Chuck) Becker
Appointed director of the
Alaska Export Assistance
Center, a unit of the U.S.
Department of Commerce, in
1989, Chuck Becker is
responsible for helping
Alaska companies succeed in
world markets. A specialist
in marketing and
governmental relations,
Becker has provided
marketing and governmental
relations services for a
number of firms such as
Brown & Root, Inc., VECO
Corporation, and the Alaska
Support Industry Alliance.
He was Anchorage’s first
economic development
director. Prior to that,
Becker was the Washington,
D.C. lobbyist for the cities
of Phoenix, Albuquerque and
Anchorage for most of the
decade of the seventies. As
an officer in the U.S.
Commercial Service, Becker
has represented the
interests of Alaska and
other U.S. companies as
commercial officer in Saudi
Arabia and Azerbaijan and on
missions to Canada, China,
Taiwan, the Philippines,
Russia and Germany. Becker
is a director and
past-president of the Alaska
World Affairs Council and is
an officer on the Export
Council of Alaska. He is
also director emeritus of
the Alaska Support Industry
Alliance. He is a graduate
of Marquette University
